Morbid thoughts ... Why?

We are but an awaiting shore to be washed out by the stormy sea,
An insignificant human that’s what we be!

An insect, a bug that crawls or flies,
Who only lingers on earth and then surely dies!

A flickering star that was born up in the sky,
Which flickers out and we do not know why!

We cannot fathom or reason why,
Why were we put on this earth to die?

Darkness and shadows play their game,
But all of life’s mysteries remains the same!

Dust to dust is what they say,
Just you wait for that awful day!

In a box you must go,
And why it happens you will never know!

They cross your arms across your chest,
And close it’s lid, for you are no better then the rest!

When it’s the death keepers time, this I know,
I’d rather stay upon this earth because I don’t really want to go!

Cast away your morbid thoughts, think positively. "All of life's mysteries" cry for our attention, there are so many things to be done, so many places to visit - this is the reason why we were "put on this earth" - not to die, far from it. Our final destination can wait. Cheers!wine hug bouquet

Food for thought, JimEee

There are certain people who believe because of the nature of their job etc. etc. that they are somehow indispensable - And yet, the cemeteries are full of indispensable people...

Morbid procrastination? I guess that is a neat summary of your poem...

Yes Bill,

The indispensable in the end are compatable with the passing of the crowd. As we both know people are not indispensable forever, because forever in this world can never be!

For the final curtain rings down upon us all. For are we not but spects of dust in the main stream of life?

To make ones mark for the good of the many is often said to be fullfilling! As we gp down the highway of life may your cup runneth over as you travel it's road!

Thank you for you comment, regards to you also!

I'm not afraid of death - for millions perhaps billions of years we did not exist and there was no pain there - after we die it's the same, non existence is not painful but living is both painful, joyful and many other things. I love living it's a precious tiny moment in time to savour and fit in as much as we can. Happy journeys Jimee
