A people shunned, a people hushed Their freedom turned to sand No right to speak, no right to be The people of this land Their children taken from their homes And thrown into a cell The families sit with no recourse As they live out this hell An evil man who rules them all He sits atop a bloody throne And all the while, his missiles fly As he destroys his own The world looked on, with blinded eyes And tried to form a pact But 9/11 came to pass So now its time to act The USA, and Britain too Charged in, ideals held near To oust the one, who for so long Had ruled his land with fear The bombs they fell, the rockets flew The air-raid sirens blare They sound of freedom coming home From decades of despair The mighty tanks, they rumbled on From town to town they went We had to be, so very sure The message had been sent The smoke has cleared, but people weep From all the death they see But they shall learn, just as we have That freedom is not free So we shall stay, as guardians And never turn our back For it can never be again The prison of Iraq.
This is an excellant read, I feel Iraq is still a prison, will our leaders never learn one countrys bloodshed is no different from anothers, maybe greater with technology but no better, All the mothers join and weep. Thankyou for sharing.

This is an absolutely brilliant poem. I loved reading it.

Superb commentry narrating the acts of a tyrant and the blood sacrifices made both by the Military and civilians caught up in both of the recent Iraq conflicts.
Harrowing subject matter, but penned with great rhyme and rhythm.

I suppose you think that you have stated the facts, but the ignorant always thinks that way.
Now, read a few facts that can be verified, by even you. (a) Iraq and its people had nothing to with the deaths in the twins towers and elsewhere, but you brought freedom;
(b) You and the rest of America have created your gulag for tens of the thousands of men, women and children, in which you tortured them, but you brought freedom;
(c) You and the rest of America killed more than 1 million Iraqis, and yet you brought freedom;
(d) More than 4 million Iraqis became refugees in neigbouring and distant countries, but your brought freedom;
(e) You and the rest of America destroyed schools, hospital and even ordinary homes. Indeed, you destroyed the country, but your brought freedom.
(f) Well before America invaded Iraq, you and the rest of America have caused the deaths of tens of thousands of children by preventing medicine from being imported, but you brought freedom;
and (g) you and the rest of America have invaded more countries than any other country in world and you and the rest of America have killed tens of millions of men, women and children, but you have brought freedom;
It is likely that your history books have been the American evening news, and I would like to suggest that you take the time to study your own history, carefully and learn the bloody path of destruction and death, that America has produced within your own borders and across the world.
And since you are a man of freedom, perhaps you would take the time to check the catalog of freedoms that you have, right now. And while you are doing that, it may be useful to learn what freedom is. Janze
