For me a poem is a thought, an idea, a feeling,
Captured in words that either rhyme or not, but that flows like
silk or water over the readers mind, dark and deep or light and uplifting, all designed to make you feel.
A Man, Woman, child, king, knight, maiden, shoemaker, dreamer, anyone who puts pen to paper and comes up with a piece that people read for me is a poet, nobody is perfect everyone is learning and improving every day, if we stop learning we die and fade away.
Every thought we are allowed to see from another mind is a precious gift of trust from that person, a glimps into their heart and mind at that second as they put it down on paper and should be treasured as such.
as I was told once 'don't be afraid to fail, be afraid not to try'

There is no rules on how to write a poem, a song.
Just ideas and thoughts. Let the lyrics flow as they
come.
Yes, it's a true gifting
Thank you, ladyjewel
Poetry, poetic prose/prose poetry, narrative prose, so many categories, so little time... I write what I feel and it comes out in its own form with little control from me - except for those challenges that have forced me outside my comfort zone when asked to write according to a specified prompt or form request. Although other people have called my writings poetry, I will leave it to wiki and others to classify them. I merely hope that there are those who enjoy reading what is posted enough for me to continue sharing.
Here are a couple of links on the subject:
Thank you for your presence in Poet's Corner. Your presence bring much that flows like silk or water over the readers mind, dark and deep or light and uplifting, all designed to make you feel.
Your thoughts about poetry are so true. The funny thing that I've realised and I've probably written hundreds by now is that the raw thoughts are the best. That's where the honesty lies. If you restrict yourself to a form or genre you can hide that rawness. The image is everything. Thanks for your thoughts here.
thank you for the comments
You have an eye for the arts. I really like the image you choose for this post ;)
Poetry (from the Greek poiesis — p???s?? — meaning a "making", seen also in such terms as "hemopoiesis"; more narrowly, the making of poetry) is a form of literary art which uses aesthetic and rhythmic qualities of language.
