A Christmas list for the world.. for us all- That we shun the lust and greed that leads to war and the unspeakable attrocities we commit against one another- That we view wealth as a good thing until the quest of that wealth leads us to devalue the worth and natural rights of people- That we are graced to see that mercy, compassion, and justice is the crown jewel of human character, and is a pearl beyond price- That we see that all the achievements of man are not worth a single life- That we are bound to repeat the mistakes of the past so long as we believe we are made in the image of the mere beast and not that of God- That are destinies are not determined by the motions of the planets, but by our free will to accept or reject the revelation of divine providence in our lives- That on any given day we can be either brilliant or stupid, but that we are endowed with the God- gived intelligence to steward the earth and resolve the seemingly insurmountable problems that have beset humanity from time immemorial- It is time to awake to Christmas.. to Hope- It is the morning star that awakens the sleeping man who wallowing in his childlike preconceptions and in his wandering on the earth in the futility of his imagination- A list for the poor lost soul seeking to exact revenge on those who would steal his goods- A list for those who seek atonement in the retaliation of war.. for those who believe that man is the measure of all things- For the scientists who burn the midnight oil seeking the ever illusive God-particle and end up relegating their origin and worth to some primordial soup- A list that would kindly remind man that there still remains a star atop the Christmas tree- A star worthy of notice.. The star of Christ~

Dear Cafe, Thanks for your beautiful Christmas wish for the world. Peace on earth and good will towards men, the universal words of Angels for the birth of Christ. Let's hope the spirit of Christmas will reign.

Hi cafe
I have read some superb poems on this site today, it has been a real pleasure - this poem of yours is right up there in the upper echelons of the poems and poets that have given me so much enjoyment this last two hours or so, before packing myself off to bed...
A great write Jim. Your previous respondees have really said it all.

Ty Caruso** A great honor to have your comment as always. Win, lose or draw, I like to call'em as I see them. I saw the documentary on the history channel on 'Blood Diamonds' today, about the unbelievable slaughters that took place in various places in Africa over the mining and selling of diamonds. This kind of inhumanity can not and must not stand..ever. The United Nations took a stand as did Britian but it seems we are a bit slow in defending life until suffering reaches an epidemic level. Well..at any rate this is what inspired me to write this particular poem..
