Beggar boy

Look at the boy with his hand out stretched

Will you toss him a coin and go and make him fetch?

Or will you treat him with a bit of dignity

Ask yourself this question

what will it be?

Go look into his eyes

and place the coin in his hand

Acknowledge his existence

and tell him you understand

Give him a reason to have a smile on his face

and thank the Lord that you dont find yourself in his place

About this poem:
Often I come across beggars in Melbourne and it upsets me to see people turn away from them
