Hi Dazab
There was something about this short simple poem that really got to me - Lucky you to have the unconditional love of your pet, and dare I say lucky pet to have a caring and loving owner.
I lost my last dog just a few years ago: They are non-judgemental, they don't care if you are tall or short, fat or thin, wealthy or poverty stricken. So long as they get a little affection, shelter, food and exercise you have their friendship and loyalty for life.

Not wanting more than a scratch of its hide
So thankful of the time you chose to give
Giving you more reason than ever to live
Give me the love of a dog any day to the love of a human...A dog will NEVER let you down...Lovely poem.
Pets do give the precious gift of Unconditional love, indeed. Enjoy!
