We are all built with a power to comprehend,
Instead we choose to allow others to force us to attend.
They tell us to go and lead us to schools as the cops put guns away,
Yet rather than us awaken from the barcodes we only sit and stay.
Sometimes our hearts can feel something even when society says no,
But who is the world to tell us when our history says to grow.
Voices can't be deleted as easily as words in a textbook,
Maybe it's time we go through trying to take a second look.
Let us open our eyes together and place our sight upon one,
Before we get completely lost on the path never seeing the sun.
