Apollon

Winter remorseless tames the land of Hellas
Warm breath forms water crystals in cold air
Lung hurts from the agony of respiration
Body shivering from frost and fear
Opening the gates to enter the pantheon.

Elysium for the seekers in silence
Reflection in the dawn of winter
The ancestors tale about the son of Zeus
Flying in the sky in a chariot pulled by swans
To the land beyond the northwinds - Hyperborea.

Darkening breaks in - where are you god of light?
The flickering candles painting demons to the walls.
Consciousness of death - where are you first healer?
Mortal men subordinate to science - a slave of gods.

Educated and domesticated to modern life´s needs
Obedient to twisted constraints of warfare and greed.
No glory for the gutless - the perversion of the powers that be
Collateral damage on individuals innocent and weakened.

Saggitarius - keeper of morals and modest men
Inflame our spirits with music, poetry and chant
Promote our campaign for convergence and agreement
Flood our shores with reason, the jetsam of our hope.

About this poem:
Apollon, the son of Zeus, twin of Artemis.
???? ????????? ????????? - Defender of the Fatherland Day, is a holiday observed in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and some other (now independent)states of the former Soviet Union.
Inoffically the 23rd february is also the Day of Man.
* my purpose was to reflect about modern day heroes and to "honour" them.
