My Great Grandma

YOU RAISED ME UNTIL I WAS SEVEN
LOOKING BACK THOSE DAYS WERE HEAVEN

IN MY MIND I CAN SEE THE LITTLE YELLOW HOUSE AND THE FIG TREE I USE TO CLIMB
MY MEMORY'S ARE STILL CLEAR AND THOSE DAYS HAVE NOT FADED WITH TIME

AT NIGHT YOU WOULD ROCK ME IN YOUR ARMS
AND I KNEW I WAS SAFE FROM ALL HARM

AT CHRISTMAS YOU WOULD MAKE COOKIES AND MINCEMEAT PIE
I MISS THOSE TIMES THAT WERE FILLED WITH LOVE SO MUCH I WANT TO CRY

I WILL ALWAYS HOLD YOU IN MY HEART
EVEN THOUGH NOW WE ARE FAR APART

ONE DAY SOON I WILL MEET YOU ON THAT PEACEFUL SHORE
WERE WE WILL WALK HAND IN HAND FOREVER MORE

Better late than never - I didn't see this when it first appeared: This is a touching tribute to your great-grandmother from a genuine lady of Poetry Corner...

Kindest regards
