Reds

The Carmal colored tip that touches my lips
Reminds me of the last time we kissed

The fire burning from the inside out
Reminds me of the love you said would never burn out

The white paper slowly turning brown
Reminds me of how quickly the pure turn around

The smoke dancing in the air
Reminds me of the love that was there

The cherry getting closer, Burning my finger tips
Reminds me of the truth behind your lips

The filter that i throw away
Reminds me of the things we did not say

The ashes, Thats left is all i see
Reminds me of the past that use to be

About this poem:
I wrote this about my high school sweetheart that ive never dated. We only kissed once in our entire lives. I asked her to travel the world with me, she said she couldn't and so i left to take on my adventure. A few years had past and i wrote her every chance that i could. I never got a reply but i continued to write. I called her one day and she mailed me a wedding invite. Come to find out her mother hid all my letter from her and she didn't know i cared so much. She told me she sent me the wedding invite in hopes that i would stop the wedding. I never showed. She is married and has a daughter now. Her mother still doesn't know she found all my letters.
