My heros have always been cowboys, I've heard a song to say. And my heros always were cowboys, That roamed on screen and stage. Ole Roy and Gene and Hop-A-Long, The Lone Ranger and Tonto too, They taught me the difference, tween right and wrong by the things I'd see them do. Those lessons have stuck through out the years, Why I live them to this day. I'd rather work cattle for 500 a month, Than go the welfare way. I don't feel comfortable in a crowd, Or at a football game. Just give me the open air to breath, For a spirit that won't be tamed. A cocktail party it aint my thing, And I think it's kind of keen, That I'd rather give my horse a smooch, Than any ole beauty queen.

About this poem:
Wrote this while I was baling hay back in Texas about 1987.
Now this here is a sure-hit country song if I ever heard'a one, pardner! Welcome to Poets Corner, WranglerSam! This is a great write, my friend! Happy, upbeat and loaded with good old fashioned integrity. I'm looking forward to your future poems as well.
