Before...
I dreamt,
The lonliest, saddest dream,
While I slept,
My heart ran out on me,
It left, it seems,
For greener pastures,
My chest distressed,
The rest a disaster,
In my darkest hour,
With so little light,
I struggle to make it
through one more night,
As I tilt the bottle,
Memories flash,
I swallow the past
as I empty the flask,
I skip to a time,
A wonderful scene,
When there was more
than just "lonely" and "me",
When there was "happy",
And there was "joy",
A time I had "peace",
Like when I was a boy,
Before all the"hurt",
Before "anger" and "pain",
Before "insanity"
came to my brain,
When there was "light",
In this darkest of worlds,
Before there was"love",
Before the "girl"....

welcome home... you've been missed
ty for sharing this depth, so sad and
yet such purity of truth in experience
Rob
This is a stunning write, I have to admit I love poetry that is clearly from the depth's of the author's soul. You reveal so much of yourself in this extraordinary poem.
Best wishes
