The Officer
Author: Unknown
A just man that works hard every night,
often chasing crooks not wanting to go down without a fight.
He spots a law breaker after patrolling the streets,
he runs great distances and jumps fences and other feats.
He tackles him and he cuffs him;
after the chase in an ally where the light is dim.
He takes him to the car and puts him in his place,
the crook still panting after losing the race.
He takes him to jail to lock him up,
from the effects of crack, still dazed, the crook still doesn't know whats up.
He fills out the paper work, prints, and pictures the man,
he puts him in the cell, still on time for his plan.
To his fellow officers he says good-bye,
being very thankful that, yet again, this night he did not die.
He takes out his keys and gets in his car,
going to his apartment which is ten miles far.
Behind the wheel at this hour he usually tires,
but he keeps going to get to his wife whom he most desires.
He notices someone on the side of the road kicking sand,
so he pulls over to give him a helping hand.
The mans car had broken down,
and the only expression in his face was a frown.
The officer begins to fix the car since he is a skilled mechanic,
he looks at his watch, sees the time, and begins to panic.
He remembers that his wife is waiting for him, in the back of his mind.
Becoming frustrated, his teeth begin to grind.
He fixes the car and is on his way,
desperately trying to get home on time, he begins to pray.
He get to the parking lot and begins to rush,
anxious to get inside, the keys the keys he begins to crush.
he speeds up the stairs with all of his might,
once inside, he finds his wife asleep, he kisses her and whispers in her ear, "maybe tomorrow night..."
