What I covet is everything I can’t have. What I desire is nothing I can have. What I yearn for is all I don’t need. Yet still, for the following, I plead. I want to win the lottery. I want to know the security. I want the world in my hands. I want the feeling of being in command. I want to know what tomorrow holds. I want to know what’s in store for me. I want the foresight to prevent. I want the ability to make it all happen. I want to live forever, to be immortal. I want to experience all there is. I want the ability of Superman. I want to know the unknown. I want everything under my control. I want a sense of being somebody. I want everything the world can give. I want to be able to hold it all. If I had all I wanted, what more would ensue? If I had all I wanted, I’d have nothing left to do. If I had all I wanted, tomorrow would be a pointless day. Nothing more to be gained, everything there to go astray.

About this poem:
I just think life would be pointless if we had everything we wanted!
