Body of coffee

You were my inward time this morning
I laid aside Spinoza and picked up Neruda
You were my coffee sweet strong and dark
Caressing your body with my fingers
Before lifting it to my lips
I drank you slow, savouring every drop
Letting the hot sweetness enter my mouth
And finally when the cup emptied of itself
I held it in my hands
