the two trees

your fruit fell
from the branches
of your mind

and ripened soil
to flower sight
when I was lost
and blind

outstretched hands
that held
a nesting place
for birds

the creatures
that so intercepted light
when time
ran out of words

you were beauty
tall and proud
and free

that broke both
the horizon line
of math and science

and the restless heart
in me
