Still Alive

Still surviving
Standing up straight
Not bent up yet nor shuffling gait
still life's hills to climb
But green valleys to rest
As we age
Life may not be at its best,
Signs of wrinkles crease the brow
But does it stop us from smiling
No! not now
We still crack up with laughter
at some funny joke,
Aches and stiff joints part of ageing
Fate has promised no one
A bed of roses
The twinkle in our eyes is not totally dimmed
But we will go on till our sun is down

So true. The body may be feeble, but we feel young at heart and still desire to be able to do what we did when we were younger - only with more wisdom.
