Why don’t people look beneath the skin? Why don’t they look inside to see the soul within? Why must the persons appearance be the only thing they see? Why don’t they look beneath the skin to see the real me?
Next time you look at someone, see the beauty that’s within; See that scars are not a sin, nor mentally disfiguring. It’s what lies inside that matters so let this be your task:
Reject the superficial and look beyond the mask. You see I have a heart like you that would beat at your caress; That would thrive on understanding and a little happiness.
My soul is like a bud that with love and tenderness Would open like a flower. Someone with aspirations, someone with dreams so rare; Someone who’s soul’s in torment, needing kindness and some care. You would see a person who is always really there;
Who laughs and cries and often sighs for love and understanding. So please look deeper than you have; take a moment just to gaze.
For you would see a person who would love you all their days, Because you took a moment to look beneath the skin And see the real person… the person that’s within. ****************************************
I work with people from all over the world, and it is a real challenge to look beneath the skin. I certainly try to, but I know I am not truly there yet, it is something I hope one day will not even be in my thoughts as it would make my day happier.
