With me it would depend on a lot of things. Given the right circumstances I might would do any or all of these that you have given for poll choices. I seen an old man walking down the road one day he fell and people kept going by I circled back to get to that side of the road. He was dehydrated and disoriented. Finially another car pulled over and soon there was a group of us and one had something to drink to offer him and one of the men said he would help him home. Now when I take that stretch of road and I see the old man taking his walk I wave to him but I worry he had fallen that day in the weeds. What if we all had kept going they might not of seen him to help him
Last time I picked up a hitchhiker (about 15 years ago) he informed me he had a gun. I didn't ask to see it. He appeared somewhat psychotic. I dropped him off at the gas station so he could get a gallon of gas. (I hope he made it back to his vehicle.)

That's a bit different though to driving down a lane in the middle of nowhere, where two cars passing is newsworthy. Yah, an overexample, but you get the drift?
That was an example of where it can sometimes be wise to stop. But if you feel uneasy, don't stop!
If others are about, it's safe enough usually. But always keep your mobile hone close to hand ready o dial emergency services.
whats wrong with people these days like the least people could do is stop and ask if that person is ok. people these days are selfish and only think of themselfs

Hmmm, you've never been threatened I assume?
Tell you what. You visit Columbia or South Africa and stop for someone at the side of the road. Let's see how selfish and humane you are there.
k do you live in them places...... ah no ya dont then it dont count! and yes i have been threatened. it dont mean every person on the road side is a killer

Press quote rather than reply sweety. Makes it clearer in a busier thread.
I visit South Africa as I have friends there. Have YOU been there?
It matters not where I live or not, it's still the same principal at the end of the day. You do not know who is on the side of the road. It could be someone genuine, and they'd thank you silently for calling the police for them. At least something was done.
That's MY take on it. How everyone else deals with it, is up to them.
thats is suck a crap way to look at it. but yourself in there shoes what if ya didnt have a phone to ring 911. you would be oh so happy for someone to stop then.

No, I'd be happy that there are people who will call the emergency services for me.
cynicalorange: Quote!!! Press quote if you're going to try and make someone feel small for their opinion.Let's face it. You're considerably bigger and stronger than the people you've dismissed on this thread for their opinion of it.
Imagine you're a woman, then think again about the situation.
Just saying...
i aint trying to make you feel small, but like i wouldnt want anyone to pass me if i was stuck in the middle of nowhere. when i was driving i had no hassle picking up hitchers, cause at one time i was a hitcher

There are still payphones everywhere. You just stop and call, give the location and licence plate number.
Anyway if their car is broken down what kind of help am I going to be? I don't know the first thing about cars.If their kid is in the backseat sick then again what am I going to do? I don't know how to help them.Eventually you are going to have to call professionals like 911 so why not just begin there from the start.
The person may very well be no threat at all,but on the off chance they are I am never going to put myself in danger.I can't help the person on the side of the road with anything, but the professionals I will call can.

I lived on a road like that for years I think in the ten years I was there I only seen two cars that I did not know. And you are right it was news worthy. I had not thought about that till I read your post. Thank you for the memory. It was a happy time

Ummm and how could I help exactly??? I know nothing about cars so if it's a flat tire I don't know how to change one and besides I am not medically allowed to lift on anything heavy so again what help can I be???
By the way try not to belittle others opinions and concerns by calling them stupid.
