Orien3: How about a maximum wage and a limit to the maximum amount of wealth any one person can have?
Hmmm....Capitalism isn't really a bad or wrong idea, if everything is fair and square. I didn't mind so much being a professional "worker bee", as my base wage was more or less equitable for the required (college) education, the supply/demand, et al. Overtime was more than available; it was often required,(yes, some industries can do this), and that I didn't mind, either. Here is what I do mind: After working a set number of overtime hours, the tax index/liability, goes UP. In fact, it is possible to get less pay for more work, in this system, and at least, not see the true value dollar for hour differential. (Overtime taxed at higher rate puts Joe Schmoe in higher bracket for pay period. Instead of reaping the benefits of sweat equity, Joe gets taxed more, and might as well have not worked the overtime). Solution? Have a standard percentage for ALL - then, the drive to better oneself becomes a reality because you pay a fair percentage on all earnings, not just your base pay. And, many economists believe that this would IMPROVE the overall economy, not damage or dilute it. I believe they're correct. Anyone with me on this one?
