So the Vintners Association are backing a plan to introduce minimum priced alcohol.

Greedy bastards?... or do they really have our health in mind?

Personally, I reckon they want a monopoly on the whole thing.

They are limited to what they can do. People will just head north of the border. Already, Morrison's are offering 3 slabs of cider / beer for £20 over the Christmas period for the UK compared to Tesco's here in the republic who are doing 2 slabs for €30.

I can't remember the name of the minister that put this forward as a good idea. Obviously utilising the 'sacred cow' that is road safety and our health risks associated with overindulgence.

Nanny State at it again... roll eyes

I was in Asda Enniskillen last weekend!

20 Bottles of Bud/Heineken/Miller for £7.. I saw 20 Bottles in Super Valu here on offer for €15, big difference.

24 full size cans of Heineken in Asda for £17, in Super Valu the normal price is normally €47 but they were doing a sale for €27.. Again, big difference!

so what you save on booze, you spend on petrol rolling on the floor laughing
I never shop up north... did it once or twice and felt ripped off!
Maybe it is because I am awful at maths and cannot figure out the currency difference laugh but when I hand over €50 for £22 of goods and get a handful of pence back I feel robbed blues
