would you be in a long distance relationship? i have and i would again they do work out if both made it work a relationship is when two people make it work not just one person trying to make it work it takes two :)
If i couldn't visit someone after work, its just not practical... About 30 miles (50 km) is distance enough... I dated a woman in Monaghan for 4 years while living in Clare, 3 hours drive each way, it took its toll...

I agree that it takes two to work... and it takes more also, as distance makes it all the more difficult. But its something that i been there and done that. And its not something i am looking forward too again! Relationships are about togetherness, being with someone u love and getting to know then more fully, on a daily basis not every other week.
You can keep in contact through Skype though it's not the same as seeing each other in the flesh. You may not be able to meet that often either it depends on how far away you live. We used to met up every 4 months which was a bit of a strain, when you just fancy to go for a drink with someone or have a cuddle. I'm not sure if I'd get involved in a LDR again.

I think it depends what two people what from a relationship. Maybe just want to talk to someone or skype. Maybe they just want communication but not commitment.
I personally wouldn't want a relationship with someone in another country but I might consider them being in another state that's within 1,000 miles of me. If the communication turns to curiosity and both parties want to meet most can afford a plane ticket within 1,000 miles.
I watched mobbed on StarWorld a few days ago. It was about this guy who moved to LA from pittsburg just to be with the girl whom he has dated for 5 years through internet. I don't know if it's a set up or a true thing, either way, it's still sweet. I guess.
So if there's any guy who's willing to do that, why not? :p
Yes I've done it a few times and it's perfectly normal if the love is there and you or they or both have the capability to travel frequently or relocate. I even went so far as to relocate to the other side of the world, New Zealand, to be with my first wife. Life's an adventure and why only limit yourself to partners and love right in your own backyard when there's a whole wide world of possibilities out there.
nesara311: yes.at my age and my understanding of life, realistically.it would not work for long
Any relationship can work if the two people involved want it to. Allowing negativity to enter, however, is a killer. LD needs a lot more communication, trust and work, with a common goal.
it works if ur willing to give all ur effort to make it work...make sure that ur partner is willing to. It takes two to tango. Relationship is NOT just PHYSICAL. If two people together have emotional compatibility, i think its much more important...who would want some short distance relationship, yes you would be together but ur partner is very childish and u dont go along well all u do is argue and throwing things with each other. Its just useless... Relationship doesnt mean distance...it means having faith and trust with each other...bcoz in a relationship, whether close together or far apart, it calls for acceptance and sacrifice... Who among you joined here to find a partner?
