Radhanath Swami says that anger is a very dangerous thing. It can deviate even the intelligent to be degraded. A very good person can live the rest of his life in a prison due to his one mistake he made when he lost his temper.
I find that when you stay calm and take some distance its easier to come up with good arguements to defend your point of view.. And by remaining so calm you actually piss off allot of people much more then you would ever do by yelling at them.

truman said - speak softly and carry a big stick..... although that doesn't sound good in this day and age......
Ccincy: Unfortuntely that's usually all some people know how to do is shout.
It has been studied and proven (by majority of tests) that the person being yelled at doesn't hear what is being said. Also, many people de-sensitize to loudness, and simply make a sub-conscious choice to ignore it.

I lost it a few years ago and the house has been so cluttered I just cant find it. I found an annoying disposition but I put it in the shredder. I guess that is just the way it goes.

I hate it when people scream. It shows a lack of self-discipline and a lack of rational arguments and a whole host of other things.... then again, I know there are situations where I would be hard pressed not to scream - I hope I will never find myself in such a situation.

There is healthy anger and there is unhealthy anger. I don't mind if someone shouts when they're angry because I shout when i'm angry. I find it better than silent angry ones. Those types you have to watch out for.
Shout is OK...We have to shouts sometimes. But anger burns you and it is not good for the human spirit at all. But we have to practice to remove the anger and not to allow the anger to take over our mind. Cos it makes us insane.

What are those healthy anger and unhealthy anger ?
Uncontrolled anger may be dangerous to your health and to the health of those you are angry at. But shouting sometimes can be useful, that is, if you don't shout all the time. If you do shout all the time, you will be ignored and avoided. It must signify to the other that they are doing something really wrong. But you still should not lose your temper and not be really angry when you shout.
