Oregongold: We protect the president etc, but we are too cheap to protect our kids. Seriously, we protect banks, and money isn't even alive.
Yes, it's curious. Several methods were developed to avoid shootings at banks, like alarms connected with police, cameras, etc. To protect bank customers with the less risk of their lives, thinking that is better to lose the money. I think those devices could be installed at schools, but those who goes armed to a school doesn't want money, but kids lives
JeanKimberley: hopefully armed guards in school is not the face of the future -
However I am on the fence about another thread on it - like waiting on the train tracks, hearing the whistle blow from the oncoming train.... and still waiting on the tracks....
There are many subjects that people write threads about over and over and I've never said I heard enough about it.
I hope you are correct that armed guards are not the face of the future in schools but it is a current happening that people are talking about.
Why are posters still arguing about the Holocaust....whether it happened or not, something that we can't do anything about. We can do something about safety in schools.
Somebody wrote another thread about guns in schools. Perhaps that person doesn't know that we discussed it for weeks. Shouldn't that person have a right to be recognized?

I read a news story yesterday that some teachers here in Ohio are taking weapons training.
I also read a news story where the Newton School was in the process of installing a security system so parents etc had to buzz in to get into the school.
Simply has to come , problem though it will just move where the nutters go nuts . Well armed ,trained ,motivated and supported . It will make no sense to put retired out of shape x service personal suffering from shell shock or PTSD in schools .
