I wonder when prayers are answered, if it is due to our great efforts, on our part, to make that something happen. We often go to great lengths to achieve or get the something we want or need. Then we say "my prayers are answered".
If we put no effort into our lives, then prayers are not answered.
So are prayers answered by God, or is it us who answer them?????
Dadude62: I'm sure IF there is a God, that He knows my heart, and I'm sure She knows what She is doing. I'm sure It does not need my advice. There is that confusion that I try to point out, in everyones mind. No one knows the answers to these questions, including Jesus Christ and Steven Hawkins or the Pope. Some of us, like myself, are comfortable knowing that. I call it the Mystery and don't attribute all the nonsense religion does, to it. No eternal condemnation. I do read religious works, including the bible and don't consider any of it to be the word of God.
I agree with you Dadude62, no one including the top scientist know the answer to any questions. They are only theories, some of them are being re-examined especially the big bang theory. However, being an Athiest they are more plausible than religious beliefs and some scriptures. As for prophets, they have written the scriptures, not God Himself.No-one has come back to tell us about life in the next world---if there is one!!! We are told by prophets that scriptures are God inspired. It seems that every prophet has created their own religion---hence why we have so many. We must remember also that the New Testament was written 50years/even after 2 centuries later after Jesus died. Also many New Testament writings were not included in the New Testament by the early Christians. All I understand about scriptures from all the prophets, is that they are a guidance of how we can behave, and communicate with each other in our daily lives. This could bring peace, to some extent, in our lives. Yet, religious intolerance still exits today in most countries on Earth.
