Ladies,in your experience is a platonic friendship/relationship with a male friend possible?
Guys,in your experience is a platonic friendship/relationship with a female friend possible?
Personally speaking i have to say i have a lot of male friends and the majority have "tried there case"with me I have remained good friends with them and that is all they will ever be...
I dont find platonic a problem, however the wives/girlfriends of the man I am platonic with do; they get a bit strange The husband/boyfriend always acts different when the female half is around.

Hiya Miss Special
this is a good topic to discuss, I have alot of male friends and i get on great with them all.....
I am now thinking there must be something wrong with me as none of them tried it on with me But getting back to being serious here, i have never been inclined even to think of any of them in that way, as we have shared most of our utmost secrets. I do value my men friends views or opinions which ever i ask for. But i also like to see a mans side if i am not fully understanding the problem with my man....but then it works both ways with us, if they have a problem with their lady friend they then run it by me and see if i can put a different slant to the story .......

As a rule I get on better with men than women .
I agree..the people most "threatened" by single women are women! You can be chatting with a guy you know well and have no interest in ..the wife/girlfriend will hover and watch the whole time.
I voted yes. I think it is possible. That does not mean that I won't try and push it the other way sometime. But I can take rejection like an adult and a gentleman, revert to platonic and make another plan.

I think it very possible. I have a very close male friend and he's not in a relationship either, but has had girlfriends throughout our friendship.

Hi chuckles, i fully agree it is possible to have a platonic friendship. I have some with other females but i wouldnt try to swing it otherwise. I think then the friendship side disapears.
I have quite a few male friends...some friendships of over 25 years.. They have never tried it on with me... Possibly because we have discussed the prospect and gotten it out of the way.. Some of them have gotten married or have partners and there have never been any problems in fact I have become a friend to their girlfriends/partners too.

....Yep...spot on...Nice to hear a bit of honesty....Funny it was fine for my ex partner to keep her Male Friends....But Whoa was I the 'a**hole from Hell',when I wanted to keep my Female Friends....Not saying that Woman have 'Double Standards'....Now I will await the Banshee howls from you Feminists on that statement...

have to be honest here a guy can have a platonic relationship with a woman if he doesnt fancy her but if he does he will do something that will ruin it like hit on her.
The answer to this question is that, for some people, it is possible to be platonic friends. it's one of those situations where people differ and situations differ. I have several close female friends with whom I will spend a day or an evening and in the full knowledge of their husband/boyfriend/partner - with whom I am friends as well although not as close. The reason it works for me is that I believe in the one woman/one man scenario and I never 'try it on' with my female friends. I have also observed that a platonic friendship between a woman and a 'womaniser' will not work because he will try it on consistently and I know this from discussing it with my more wayward friends. It's horses for courses my friends and, as is usual with human nature, what's good for the goose is not necessarily good for the gander.

i know this for a fact from personal experience because my best friend in high school was a very beautiful girl 2 years younger than me and though everyone around us thought that there was something going on between us there, in fact, was not. for one to say that a plutonic friendship to exist between man and women is ignorance rearing it's ugly head.

Till now i don't agree, either i was wrong thinking they were good friends
But haven't had luck yet to be in a good friendship relation with a guy, after along they end up wanting more than just friendship. Its kind hard to be around them knowing they have some feelings.
Yes it is possible to have a platonic friendship from my experience, however not all of my male friends have respected our friendship and have tried it on... I have since a child got on better with guys and have solid friendships with a lot of guys as well as girls...
