I am a horse person
I have loved them all my life and will for the rest of my life and when I am around them I am very happy and comfortable being with them. I used to lay on the ground next to my horse and tell him all my problems when I was a teenager
I am also a bird person, I own a few birds and the wild ones seem to know I love them

Sorry Ralfy... I got a bit carried away... I would (and have) own a horse... because when you jump on their back and go for a ride all your problems seem to disappear. when you canter you can feel your hair blowing in the wind and it makes you feel so free

I never even thought of horses!! and so many people love them. What is worse is that I live in a country town!! 
Horses walk past my house. I personally love dogs, loyal companions, good guards, great for getting off your butt to go for a walk. Not really into lap dogs. My preference is big dogs, love staffordshire terriors or pit bull terriors. I have owned them before and to spite all the hype, they are wonderful pets. One of my kids had been attacked by a jack russell, so I really don't want a lecture on dangerous dogs.
Birds freak me out!! I don't like being near them.

As you say dogs keep you fit... another point of being a horse lover, riding them keeps you very fit

i am a bird person, the feathered variety. i have a budgie, his name is cheeky. and he does live up to his name as well.
i did have a young kitten awhile back, but then found out i was allergic to cat hair . lol

I like bugs. You might think I'm a weird nerd but I had some pet bugs and they made the coolest, cutest pets. Unfortunatley my ex allowed them all to dehydrate and die while I was away working but none the less. Check the pic, they grow to about 6 inches.

Now to exercise my nerdness, they're so cool, in the absence of males they reproduce by a process called parthenogenesis. ie, they lay fertile eggs which hatch to produce clones of the mother ! They also get bigger each time they molt so you come home from work and find they've grown dramatically through the day.

If you had to own one pet, what would it be? And why??
I own a dog (cuddles) and she is our family pet, just like one of the family. Always had a dog and seems natural to have a dog in the family. Bringing one into the family when kids are little they seem to listen and fit in the family just like one of the family.
We have fish too, although i have taken a pic of (Herbet no2 yet)
