Well, I guess if you wanted to simplify it a bunch, we'd be talking about love of "God," love of fellow humankind, and love of each other. So it kind of goes from the really big picture to the individual.

LethalLove: Hmmm....the 'best' side for Trish is the best side for Trish, as an accumulation of her life's experiences, and understandings, no?

training....an interesting view on training...

I am constantly in 'training'.... diligence is a form of training...

education, beit academic or life, is another form of training.

Trish has given HER views consistantly...and substantiated the reasoning behind her views...

I have spouted off more psychobabble than Trish has within this thread.

I started my spouting off with actual experience which I think hods more truth than any amount of 'assumed' roles or pretend 'role play'........

LethalLove: ?

Pardon?

I hope you didn't feel my post was a negative towards you?

It wasn't intended that way...it was more in response to Begin and his post on academic training...

not at all hug

I was simply making my point clear after looking over a couple of other sites and comments there....... thumbs up

Okay time to answer my question...

True, real, healthy love is conditional and within reason. We should strive for realistic conditional love. It is wrong to not love some because they stopped buying you stuff, they got old, they gained weight, they lost their job. It would be just as wrong to unconditionally love someone who beats you, abuses your children, etc.

Unconditional love is the thing of fairy tales, myths and legends and occurs very, very rarely. Mostly in the cases of parents and children or pets. But even those can have conditions.

cool

teddybear there is something called unconditional love,a love that has no conditions for it is unconditional.a love with no ending only a beginning it starts when two people allow each other's love into their heart,to grow with each beat of their heart.when one heart stops beating the other love will still beat with in their heart, their love will not end but last through eternity, when they look into each other's eyes they will not see the love each other hearts holds, but they will see the love each other's soul holds, for true unconditional love comes from the soul and not the heart

for when the heart stops beating the love will also stops, but since true unconditional love comes from the soul,it will not stop when the heart stops beating for the soul is eternal, the love the soul holds will not stop when the heart stops beating, but it will live through eternity.teddybear teddybear

azucarmorena: One can argue that the love a parent has for their child or vice versus is truly unconditional.

Well does it stop there? Can love between a two individuals be truly unconditional?

Love has conditions; we give as much as we receive. It is human nature to expect something in return therefore love cannot be unconditional.

Thoughts?
Love can be uncondional until you through in tell you throw in marriage then suddenly condions start flying out of now where.

Actually most likely the idea of Unconditional Love or Agape Love was based from on The Bible specifically 1 Corinthian 13 and it is talking about God's unconditional love towards us humans. The Greek had at least seven different words for love. So in my mind no it doesn't exist in the sense of Eros or romantic love or even Phileo brotherly love maybe at times in all of us but we are too imperfect, thank god lol, and selfish for the most part. Just a thought from my past experiences of other humans. Some of us would like to love others like that but out shadow sides get in the way.

As a disclaimer I am not trying to preach as I have no particular religion now but love in any form is an awesome thing don't you think?

Unfortunately I do believe in true love and pursuing it without regret...with that said I believe it is rare to find and those that have it may not realize it till later. I am a romantic at heart but I have been jaded by love-or that's what I thought it was-to allow myself to feel the "swept away" completely feeling. My hope is that one day there is someone willing to climb over those walls.
