lorraine: I am one of the don't knows. I am more confused this time than I was last time
you're not alone...
so confused..
however.. im sure there are valid reasons for voting both yes and no...
but i will be voting yes for the following reason...
as the world becomes a smaller place, we as a small nation cannot afford to be left at the bottom of a two tier EU, which is what will happen if we vote NO..
since we joined the EEC way back, our country has gone from strenght to strength.. this happend off the sweat of hard working irish people and help from the EU both on policy and financial aid.. I believe that there may be down sides to voting YES, but maybe its a case of better the devil u know...
lately we have all been complaing about our govt and how they have handled the economic crisis this past yr.. maybe being part of a bigger family like the EU will help when another idiotoc govt messes things up again...

Em, it was done by kick starting the economy with borrowed non existent money and we'll see just who owns us in a couple of years. There have always been plenty of hard working Irishmen. I can understand the frustration of the No supporters. 800 years of oppression followed surrender after a mere 80 years of Independence. And as things stand I'm a Brit with no vote.
Crystal29: No they dont but you have to get your information from several different sources to eventually form your own thoughts and I would think RTE would be a fairly reliable source...
Right first impressions..I felt as if I was reading the News of the World....not sure if youre familiar with that crap rag?? Secondly, its friday night, Im chilling out chatting with mates over a couple of glasses of wine....cant be arsed going to get my notebook and pencil to take notes and respond...but I will be back tomorrow...
Crystal29: but I thought the neutrality thing had been ironed out and assurances giving on (b]Ireland making their own decisions on it....
Such as saying no to Lisbon the first time around...But they didn't listen then to the voice of the people..When the said they would...So how can you believe their acceptence that the issues have been ironed out..and in whos favour..Irelands or a Euopean super state....

Yes thats a good point...but at the end of the day isnt it down to your government to say No our people dont want it..end off....I think the same would happen in this country too so we're not being allowed to have our say in the first place.

What most people fail to realize is the government (any..in any country**)..works for you (people) not the other way around...it's your tax that pays their wage...
And Ireland being a democratic country..held a demorcratic vote and the majority said no..what happened ...the puppet masters in Brussels/Strasboug..said 'Oi Brian, thats bad for buisness;..get your people to vote aagain until they give us the vote we need to screw every one') (**I'm talking normal democratic places..)
