imsophie1: It doesn't matter whether the "end" refers to a physical end or to a new consciousness and awakening. A person (in the singular) is smart, but the human race (as a whole) is too stupid and greedy for things to change.
The prophet Daniel prophesied a 7 year pact that will be broken by one of the signatory world leaders near it's midpoint, and that breaking of the pact will occur three and a half years prior to the second coming of Christ, and it will be marked by a bloody invasion of Israel by a multinational force and worldwide chaos and disasters on a scale never before seen.
So we are AT LEAST 7 years from the end.
No offense intended toward the Mayans, but to be honest I haven't seen much evidence to support their prophetic ability. In fact I have seen various "experts" interpret the Mayan prophecies very differently.
Clearly someone WANTS us to believe the Mayan predictions instead of those that Jesus himself reaffirmed.
Menopause can last 10 years? I wish! I've been flashing 24/7 for more than 16 years now. Believe me, PB, it may be a once-in-a-lifetime happening, but it's one experience I wouldn't have missed at all.
integrity82: I remember when it was mid 1990s we were frightened that the year of 2000 will be the end of the days
actually I believe the world is going to exist much longer.
Exactly, the turn of the millennium was when all the computers were going to crash. Still waiting for that to happen. Guess it's just a delayed reaction.

God I remember that I drained my account thinking all my hard earned money was going to get gobbled up, but it never did! And there was definately a delayed reaction returning it to my account!!

I love your humor!
It may not have been as funny back then, and there was a lot of unnecessary panic as well. At a job I was working at, the bosses were in a frenzy worrying about having all the computers crashing on January 1 2000. Whith having all the media hype going on, I had to prove to them that it was just a hoax and I did that by taking one of their computers and simulating the event. Went in and set the BIOS to December 31 1999 with five minutes to go until the turnover. Tic...didn't crash and I received a promotion along with a raise that day.
The only computers that were actually effected by the turnover was those having a BIOS set at mm/dd/yy while all the rest being mm/dd/yyyy went uneffected. The latter BIOS set was already being phased out in the very early 1990's by most manufacturers.

RobertC2: The world SHALL end if I haven't found the right woman for me by 2012. I'll have a 'hissy fit' and cry and the world shall drown in my tears!
Oh we are safe then?- I was getting worried for a minute there
