angelmarz: I used to smoke pot... made me paranoid and insecure....BUT i have seen cancer patient's use it to help with their appetite and to help them with pain...take the THC out of it and you can do all sorts of great stuff with this plant!!...personally, i don't like hanging out with pot heads...their boring....i don't even know why i smoked it for a while
I agree with it for medicinal, and for crops like hemp rope and fabric etc

People are dopey enough, without adding to the problem. Many years ago I lived next to a neighbour who smoked dope regularly. He also would go to the doctor for depression. The doctor would give him anti-depressent tablets. Dope is an depressent too. So when he smoked and took the tablets. I guessed they would contradict each other. How dopey!!

its not good & I bet your neighbour couldnt figure out why they were depressed constantly
To everyone, I respect your oppinions on illegal drug use but what about industrial grade cannabis and its potential to alleviate the stress on our natural ecosystems and to serve as an alternative to fossil fuels? See, I think this issue causes a knee jerk reaction as most people instantly associate cannabis with drug taking but the plant has so much morer to offer than that. Don't forget that the great explorers throughout history circumnavigated the globe and discovered half the world under the power of hemp sails. Ok, some were flax but most of the rope was hemp and there's a whole lot of rope on a sailing ship right? blah blah blah. Can anyone tell me if they've ever worn hemp clothing and what it felt like?

Damian,
I believe that there is a valid medical use for hemp, and valid use in the way of clothing etc. I was really impressed when you wrote about the fact that hemp crops require less water than the cotton crops.
I wonder how difficult it would be for growers to shift from cotton to hemp production? not withstanding the issue of security.

Yeah, that's hitting the nail on the head. I might make it my lifes work to convert the cotton growers into dope farmers and save what's left of the Murray Darling river system which includes the Macquarie, the river that runs through Dubbo.

I know it sounds like a wonderful solution doesnt it. Of course all the nay sayers would argue against it. But the environmental impact of the cotton industry is horrendous... look at the level of chemicals used...

That's another great point. You can basically grow cannabis without pesticides. Probably not to much trouble with weeds either as the plants would probably shade the ground after a while and nothing else would grow (maybe)
