Possibly you are actually interfacing with the imaginations of other humans around you or spiritual beings, but the whole alien thing to me comes from a lack of knowledge about what you are actually experiencing.
I really find the humanoid looking alien thing to have been brought on by human imagination. Why would Aliens have eyes, nose and mouth, not to mention arms and legs so similar to ours.
