No they shouldn't be awarded a replay. That's against the rules.

But France should offer to play a "friendly" against the Irish with a gentleman's agreement that if they lose, they will resign their place at the World Cup Finals and Ireland will go through by default.

Now, do France have the honour to do this?

Or are they dishonourable cheats?

Know what? After reading the rules today.......I agree with you........... Is why they have the rule: Refs decision is FINAL! Or else loads of games could be called in, to be replayed!!!

Now, as for you final comments; ~ "Now, do France have the honour to do this?

I think you answered your own question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a sad situation but is it really any different to the 'hand of god' incident when a certain Argentinian scored against England ?

If Robbie Keane had handled the ball and put it in the net, the Irish wouldn't be looking for a replay.

I would hate it if Scotland had been robbed like this, but this sort of crap is part of football.

I agree the match will not be peplayed because FIFA and UEFA would prefer France in the finals. The playoff were seeded at the last minute for thos world cup because Mr. Blatter and Platini noticed with one qualifing game left that France, Germany, Portugal and Russia were 2nd in their groups. So as to give these sides an easier route to the finals they seeded the draw. As is turns out Germany won their group.

As for the cheating aspect, where does it end? If we seen a golfer throw a ball out of a bunker in a major comp on TV and celebrate it, if we seen a snooker player move the cue ball in the World Championships and not tell the ref we would be appaled. But for some reason we see somoene cheating in football and we think it's OK as long as the ref does not see it.

Football is a game. And like all games, whats the pont of it if you don't follow the rules. As an Irishman i don't blame Henry for what he done but i was disgusted the way he celebrated the goal knowing what he did. And then to tell the world afterwards he did not do it on purpose was an insult to all our intelligence.
