The Kashmir conflict refers to the territorial dispute over Kashmir, the northwesternmost region of South Asia . The parties to the dispute are India, Pakistan, China and the people of Kashmir. India's official position is that Kashmir is an "integral part" of India. Pakistan's official position is that Kashmir is a disputed territory whose final status must be determined by the people of Kashmir. Certain Kashmiri independence groups believe that Kashmir should be independent of both India and Pakistan. Whats ur mind about the solution of dispute????
none of the above. its India, Pakistan, and China's issue... we have no place in it. Yes the outcome would effect us but that doesn't mean we have the right or duty to stick our noses into every situation. The Cold War is over!!!! When will people realize this. ITS not our job to police the world anymore.
Well I just looked at the poll results so far. 64 to 67% of men believe Kashmir is not an area of conflict. I am just surprised that people do not see it as a place of conflict, how can this be so. People have been battling for this area of land for many years now and there is no conflict there?!! Well I guess people never cease to amaze me sometimes.

Because its not on the front page of the news in most places
I remember discussing the Kashmir issue in one of my international relations classes, back when I was a student. They seemed to have had several possible solutions. But, none of them seemed to be able to work or be accepted in reality. It is another area that is in a tricky situation.
What is the correct answer? I am not sure. I think that it would be best, if the UN took more of an interest in the area, like they have done with places like Kosovo, East Timor, and other controversial areas, where there seemed to be no solution at first.

That made me laugh!! well done. A bit like these threads when they suddenly shoot totally off course, let see if this one can be held togother. The usual suspects could be lurking on the sidelines or simply not available for comment right now!

Well, I am not sure if these political threads can handle staying on topic for more then a page or so.
But, we will see...not much input on this thread so far.
Kashmir is most certainly a conflicted area. India and Pak nearly came to a nuclear exchange over it, how could anybody believe it is not in dispute? I was surprised that choice was even on the poll. Discussion is needed to arrive at a plebiscite but duscussion alone accomplishes nothing unless it comes to a vote. Who should have a vote in the dissection of Kashmir, or should it remain whole and be granted national sovereignty? That option ought to be one of the poll choices because that would get my vote. Something needs to be done or this conflict will never end and it may wind up another North & South Korea.
