Have just read two recent threads on Social Welfare and a poll on Relationships .. hijacked by bickering, cliquey type behaviour and pathetic oneupmanship.... still, I suppose it gives everyone an insight on who you would be best to avoid dating.

Yes i think things can get a bit out of hand at times . on occasion it has stopped me from posting but its still good to read most and people are voicing an opinion.there are some that just like to rile people up the wrong way but their best to be ignored. you dont have to take the bait and turn it into a full force argument. say ur piece then leave well alone. threads are hijacked a lot though i have noticed,

Better to hijack a thread with some flirtingflirty or anything else, than just let the fighting go on.

Best to just ignore the BS, and keep the conversation flowing.dancing

Morning all <........I do sound like dixon of dock green dont i

(a tv cop show on bbc1 in the early 70s for all the young uns)

....Theres been one or two posters on here who have Offended good friends of mine that i have actually met not only on these forums but in real life ,that said .. I know my friends can quite easily Fend for themselves and wont mind if i laugh at them ..with them ..or (well you get the picture) ..

These Friends in turn have friends who i wouldnt get along with but their adults and i respect their veiws (not really im just pretending)

My point is simple ,A certain poster who is very articulate and fast witted and arguably has brought back a lot of life to the Irish Forums can only defend himself/herself thoughtfully if theres one or 2 in disagreement with them ....when everyone starts jumping on the bandwagon attacking and attacking every point that theyve posted and late at night when maybe a slight tipple has been medicinally taken then obviously the fun starts becoming too personal and thats when youve really got to let go and let all hell break loose...go for the jugular ..insult theiir family heritage and hurt them much more than they can hurt you and try and change their words around to put you on a higher moral standing ....or give the poster room to breath and maybe you might get a more thought out response.....

I realise for some its alot more personal but i dont want to really know i just like seeing my writing in print grin If anyone wants to tell me of their bad experiences with any posters please dont as i probally wont really care ..oh Happy new Year everyone laugh laugh

starattax: . IT CAN BE OF COURSE IF YOUR ON THE RECEIVING END OUR NATURAL INSTINCT IS TO DEFEND OURSELVES. THAT SAID IT TENDS TO GET REALLY BAD. I THINK IF PEOPLE ARE IN A BAD MOOD ITS NOT FAIR TO COME ON AND TAKE IT OUT ON SOMEONE COS U JUST DONT KNOW A PARTICULAR PERSONS CIRCUMSTANCES AND WHAT THEY,VE BEEN TROUGH, IT CAN DRIVE SOMEONE OVER THE EDGE.
yEA I THINK ITS A GOOD IDEA TO KEEP IT AS LIGHT HEARTED AS POSSIBLE AND TRY CHEER PEOPLE UP MORE SO THAN BRING THEM DOWN. WE,RE ALL HERE TO MAKE FRIENDS NOT ENEMIES

i was rising to the bait and gettin involved in aggro on the political but i like takin the piss but now im so nice it makes me feel nauseous ,check out the people of ireland thread page 14 and tell me what you think ,pleasewave

DUBLINGUY1973: Do you think there is too much fighting on the forums lately?

Is there too much name-calling, hijacking and abusive behaviour in your opinion?

Do you find it it is making you think twice about taking part in the forums?

By the way, I would appreciate it if we could refrain from name-calling, hijacking, abusive behaviour in this thread.

Your comments and suggestions are welcome as long as they are conveyed in a civilised and respectful manner.

politics should be left out of the forums cos it just causes arguments.

that is my opininon

it comes and goes. depending on the time of the year, the position of the moon or whatever.

I saw someone saying it is not always like this. true. However, the good comes and the bad comes. its a good old merry go round and one that all should accept.

But folks, its a forum and guess what, Forums are for people to express their own opinions and if you disagree with the opinion, you choose to either voice it or not. Its your own choice if you want to make it personal or not.

My own PERSONAL opinion is that if you use the forum to have a personal attack on someone then you are pretty sad indeed. would seem to happen a lot in the heat of the moment. Whats the point? Getting something off your chest? Makes ya look a bit of an eejit in others eyes. But again, thats my own PERSONAL opinion.

Maybe take a thought first before you post in the heat of the moment. "Would I like that said to me?" If not then dont, if yes well......

Oh btw, have ye ever noticed how many people that there are on this site and yet dont come into the forums? Ever wonder why they never say hello?
