SAInScotland: I'm just interested in seeing how the world views Christmas!
Is there any reason you left out the real cause of the season, the Earth's apogee in relation to the Sun? When we're far away, it gets cold.
All religions are borrowed from previous ones and attempt to erase others from history. Mithras of Persia was born about 2540 years ago, three days after the winter solstice (or December 25th, in simpler terms). And that's without mention of hannukah.
Time to go to bed, I guess. I'll be getting up in a few hours and going to work today. It's great living in Taiwan where buddhists and daoists are a 90+% majority and none of them proselytize.

Agree with your reason. Must be lovely to live amongst the Buddhists and Daoists!

The season now is the beginning of a new birth. Wintertime is a time to rejoice in the harvest. It may be the harvest of food, or the harvest of souls. May we all be filled with the warmth of grace in this season that brings hope to the future crops.

I didn't start this Poll to judge or to critisize! My only interest is to see/hear what people think! Your opinion is what interests me!
Christmas is not the birt of Christ and if you dont know study it in an encyclopedia..... you may just be surprised... to the truth, that it is a Pegan Holiday and Counterfeited Sauls Birthday to the NAME OF CHRIST.
If you have never looked, maybe you should.... so so many people arent misled to the TRUTH!
How is my Poll materialist??? I asked a simple question to find out what people's views on the subject are!!! Christmas is sadly over rated. It's not Christmas that has become materialistic - it's the greed of the people. It's people themselves that are greedy & that have taken the true meaning out of Christmas and replaced it with Commercialism or materialism!
Lee464: As an insight into western societies true nature...hypocrisy, greed, distraction ,disillusionment ...etc.
As far as I am concerned - Christmas is an occassion. People have become hypocrites, people have become greedy, people have become distracted and people are disillusioned! This is something or some state they have brought upon themselves & the rest of the world! As far as I am concerned it really has nothing to do with Christmas, so I still don't know what your views are on the REAL reason for the season!!!
