Sorry but all these songs were great but knowing the history behind it, "Mother" is the most moving since his Beatles days with "In my life". That's my opinion but I always get tears in my eyes hearing "Mother" as the pain he felt was so obvious.

I can't just select one favorite, for I've loved many of his songs for so many years now....but 2 that have not been mentioned, but I feel are very special, are "Beautiful Boy" and "Julia," one for his son and the other for his mother.

Yes he did write Beautiful Boy.
He composed it for his son sean and included it on his last album Double Fantasy just before he was so cruely assasinated in New York in December 1980.

Very true it was evident who was writing what but amazes me how Macca still tries to claim stuff that was not his with nobody around to challenge this. I grew up 2 miles from Lennons house and occasionally go past his house and you would not believe the amount of people taking photos on every occasion I pass it.

Yes your absolutely right,it was..and i think its such a shame that George didnt get more of a chance to show his talent as a songwriter at the start of their carear because he composed some real good material that i"m sure wouldve been a hit.
I"ve been a beatles and john lennon fan for many years now,i"ve looked into their carears both as part of the band and as seperate artistes,done studies on their music and lives.
Just in case your shiverin in all this cold weather i send you a nice huge warm hug to help keep you warm.
