swordfish44: Of course it's bliss in South Africa, why don't you visit and then make your decision!!!!
About the subject on discussion at the moment.... every country has it's arrogant people!!
Of course it is bliss in SA! The OP says so. I have met here in Canada people who fled SA because of the crime, and these were both black and white folks.

There are arrogant people in every country. I disagree with you re: the Americans, and I have lived there (for 9 years). They have a bad rap from a few, but there are lots of great people there too. I have travelled quite a bit, and think having an embracing attitude, where you try to get to know the people and the culture helps to make your visit so much more enjoyable. I think it just pisses people off when you create polls like this which separate and annoy people. Quite frankly, it comes across as arrogance!
chris27292729: I suspect you travelled to India for a reason, because your b/f or husband is an Indian (nearly 1 million in S.A.).-
No she claims he is a white Afrikaner. But she spends most time away from him to start stupid blogs and threads on CS. She mentioned the trip to India to show that she is "world travelled" ==> a trip coming November to India through Dubai. Yipee!

Amen, sista. Thank you.
What does she know about Americans? and what makes her pick them as being arrogant? There are arrogant people in every country.

As you said, every country has arrogant people.
South Africa is a good example of the evils of colonialism and the continuing injustice and harm that it leaves in its wake.
Karma will require that the former colonialist powers suffer some of the same sort of evils they imposed upon others. I expect that China, Japan, and India will prove to be very hard taskmasters now as they take over control of the western economy.
By the way I think this thread is good. It helps to discuss sensitive issues. The worst thing in the world is to sweep them under the rug and pretend they don't exist.
Liebe2: Should some people's behavior be generalized as being a whole nation's?
When the behavior comes from the nation at large in the form of military or economic oppression it is inevitable (and just) that the nation at large be blamed.
In such cases, individuals have to prove that they actively oppose their nation's behavior in order to escape sharing the blame. Passive unvoiced disagreement won't do the trick.
In S.A. during apartheid were white arrogant oppressors,in so called Freed S.A. now, we do have black arrogant oppressors.Anyway she fulfilled her dream,as MOST black women dreaming off,to have a relationship with a white man.-

leostartingover: Yes we have a long way to go, but we've also come a long way... It helps that we've had an amazing example and leader like Nelson Mandela who practices what he preaches - forgiveness.
...You would have had to be here for the World Cup to see that we are much more united and patriotic than ever before.
If Nelson Mandela did not preach "forgiveness", especially toward the financial powers that have long owned South Africa, he would not live to see the sun rise tomorrow.
If you go and preach, what you say in your post,to some White Africaans farmers,i want to see, how fast you gone to run, the 100 meter dash.- Are you still proud to have served with the Rhodesian African Rifles, against people seeking their freedom from their colonial masters?????. And talking about arrogance. Mr Ian Smith premier of Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, declared 1980 "" Not even in 1000 years the blacks will govern this country"" 3 years later was handing power to its rightful owners, and the Africaners in S.A.celebrating, shouting ""Hear, hear, hear"" having brains the size of a pea, thinking their dominance, will last for ever, and 10 years later their turn came, and some of them even now, don't know why it happened.
solitare: Bravo! You and oldfoxyguy approaching the same 'problem' from different directions but are both headed in the same direction, Both valid points and very well put as is the common theme of values over-riding any and all racial and ethnic differences inherited from our respective ancestors. It is one of the best reasons I loved the Roncesvalle area in Toronto and along Queen st. East; the sheer volumes of peoples from everywhere doing whatever they did best to make that area a cornucopia of cultures from foods, Arts to languages to old tribal dress which I so loved in my travels all over the African continent....I still miss that. No matter where I went or in which 'African Army' I served, there was always a common language from Europe to be found, even in the most isolated areas. Everyone had a view on 'the old colonial power' that once existed there in whatever region. Some where remembered fondly, some with disgust...all depended upon their own personal or family's treatment...it was amazing the vast differences between peoples of the same tribes let alone the same country. One common animosity among all peoples I met, were the new borders or old ones that have never yet been rectified...yet another area for an unspoken but accepted legacy of pre- and post-colonial times; everyone understood why most of the colonial powers practiced apartheid as nearly all tribes did the same in regards to other tribes, all over Africa. What they could never understand was the contempt they were held in by many of the colonial govt.'s and settlers and the harsh treatment they received for simply being who and for what they were. Many of us who came from different European countries long after the colonial period could only shake our heads at our own people's utter stupidity and what can only be described as absolutely unchristian ethics and morality and totally deprived of any sense of honour.Yet for many of us from Europe, it was our highest honour to serve with the Rhodesian African Rifles and the Selous Scouts...never did we wish to leave such beautiful peoples as we found all over southern Africa.
Intellow: Arrogant in a lot of ways. 1. Refusal to be equal to other nations as individuals.
Funny, let tragedy strike and we arrogant Americans show up first, leave last and give the most money........ Its great to be American!!! We Americans have shed to much blood in defence of others!!!
venusenvy: Neither Liebe nor Equiya are any of the things you claim. Both are much loved members of C/S not to mention my friends...But I would ask...who the hell are you????

>>>REFUSAL TO BE EQUAL TO OTHER NATIONS AS INDIVIDUALS
What does that mean? a nation being compared to individuals? and when did that happen? so how come there are over 300 million Americans and counting, a lot more than 34 million inhabitants in Canada? so is it the nation that is arrogant or the people? There is a difference between the actions of a government which might be deemed arrogant and the nationals of such nation.
Please don't pay attention to her. She has never been to the US, knows no American. All she knows is what she gets in the biased media.
I am Canadian but I have lived and worked in the US longer than Canada. My brothers who live there are now American citizens. most of my friends are there too.
I bet you if you were to give her a green card today, she will run to your shores in no time. I find the French more arrogant than Americans. But there are arrogant people in every country on earth including the OP as she shows here, her own arrogance and ignorance.
Well, I think the mods finally drove a stake in this one, Im sure she will dry up and blow away now. My guess is she is rotting in c/s jail at this point. What a hate monger eh...Its a shame in a way I thought the "worm club" was going to be a lot of fun...I was hoping for the position of head worm wrangler myself...O well, ce la vie.

ok, but that shouldn't make me a hater, in her opinion
if I misunderstood her it's because she does not make herself clear and she refuses to answer my questions. she says she doesn't answer every question, fine, so we have every right to misunderstand her
