I know I'm new and not totally au fait with what goes on here, but wowser! We all have our opinions but really, what purpose does a topic like this serve? Especially when so few choices are given, it should read "who is the most arrogant nation out of these 6 nationalities" surely ... and given the standard of posting on this thread I'm afraid I'd have to vote African!!!.. I had a penpal. It was in third grade and we all got one. Mine was in New Zealand. I will never forget her. I still to this day wonder what happened to her. We wrote for five years I believe.

My father was in Scotland at one of the naval bases when my mother flew over for their second honeymoon in Europe. While on a train going thru France, a conductor checked their tickets and upon hearing their accents treated them like dirt and even said "Americans" like it was a cuss word. All national stereotypes are exaggerations and generalizations.
In any country there is a lot of diversity.
But at the same time National stereotypes also have a lot of truth to them. Americans are known to be relatively arrogant and pushy.
But it probably has more to do with their decades of being the richest and most economically successful nation.
I was in Japan when the Japanese economy took off and the dollar underwent a big devaluation. The normally humble Japanese were suddenly full of nationalistic pride and began to consider themselves as superior to all "gaijins". Of course they got humbled again when their economic bubble burst a few years later.
All people react about the same in the same circumstances.

That being said...The French have the most amazing cultural heritage in the world... from art, to fashion, to historical icons, cuisine, singers....quite amazing.

I do think that the french have a lot to be proud about,as should most other nations.But it is how you treat others.I have lost count of the number of Countries I have visited and the Parissien men are an embarrassment to there own Countrymen with there arrogant attitude.I have been told this by a few none Parissien french.

No, I don't think so. I don't think she has ever been in the US. All she knows about the US is what she hears in the media. SHE does NOT know what she is talking about. She calls me a hater, little does she know that it says more about her and her ignorance than me. She has never left her little and crime ridden SA or met people from other nations.
