Yeah, this is a big challenge to me because after i meet a nice, loving and caring lady only to find out she is a smoker, i give up interest. I can't stand it and there is no excuse for smoking lol. for what so ever, i can't marry a smoker excpt you are willing to quit.

jeepers: It can be done, but really, the only way someone can quit is for themselves.
oh really? if you have a very critical illness and your doctor advise that you quit smoking your not going to quit because your system has not decided?
Most of my bfs have been non smokers.... and im a living chimmeney!!
But i tried to stop it when i was with them...just bcoz i guess how gross can the smell be for a non smoker, but after all they respected my "addiction"
I guess u can at least try to avoid it... just bcoz u care abt the other person...But I would never accept someone telling me " DONT SMOKE BECAUSE I DONT LIKE IT" If I wanna quit and show some respect to him I will do it.... if he forces me...then I wont stop.... HAtes being told what to do, im nearly 30!!

Sebastino: awesome....
It is a bad habit, and very a difficult challenge to stop, but if you like this person, and the person likes you, be an example, or be supportive of her and maybe after some time she will decide. What if you ditch her, she stops smoking and you realize she ( or he ) is the person of your dreams, but it's too late....found someone else.

If I was a smoker I would quit smoking for myself, for my health. If a non smoker actually put up with me and my filthy habit, it would give me the strength to rise to the occasion and to become a better woman.

Quitting smoking which IS an addictive substance is one of the most difficult things I have ever done. 10 years clean now and no regrets. I did it for ME and this should be the priority, not being forced to by someone else. If you love a person enough you support them in their struggle, if they really want to give up.
Many people give up and then return to the habit. What if the love of your life gave up for you then started the habit 6 months down the line? Would you then dump her?
