I was having lunch with a friend today and we got taking about going to the gynaecologist. I said that I have always preferred going to a male gynaecologist. My friend finds this weird and says she would only ever go to a female.
There is no medical reason for me preferring a male gynae ... I just feel more comfortable with it.
I need to know that I am not the only one who thinks this way as my friend made me feel like a bit of an anomaly!

A doctor is a doctor, their gender's for no importance to me.

My very first gynecologist was Dr. Savage. I will always choose a woman for women's needs.
Either is okay with me but I feel most comfortable with a male....maybe it's got something to do with a female messing around with something only men have had.....least I'm honest
When I had my twins and had a c-section, back then we were stapled back together...don't know how they do it now, but my doctor was yanking out the staples, and even though I told him it hurt, he thought I was being too sensitive, so have switched to a woman...
Godsgift: I can't believe 5 men were thick enough to vote. We have some very stupid people on here!
Perhaps they were thinking of their partner - who they would prefer them to see?
Anyways for myself, I've no preference as long as they are caring and compassionate. There are many doctors who seemed to have lost that ability, while others are amazing.
I heard female gynecologst more rough compare to the male.. My friend told me her experienced she had with the female gynecolgist..
The doc put the spatula or something inside her, and because that she was so nervous, its kind of hurt.. so she screamed.. And the doc said, what you screaming off, its smaller then your partner's thingie.....

Not at all. Being female, they know what it feels like and tend to be far gentler. Moreover, going through pregnancy with a female obgyn is a riot and a half. Many have had children themselves and tend to be dead honest and speak from their own personal experiences (which is where the laughter comes in). Overall, the level of relaxation and candor is much higher -- in my experience, at least. They don't hide behind "formal" office behavior and tend to de-mystify the entire process. Really, talking to a doctor who has actually "felt" many of the same things you have felt gives them a much better sense of insight and empathy.

My gynaecologist is a man My dermatologist is a lady My dentist is a man
I have seen the same doctors mentioned above for over 25 yr since I moved to this city with some periods off for my being in another places.
My gynaecologist is a great doctor, so careful so gentle to do all the routine or special check ups and he always explain to me everything before he does any thing.
The gender of my doctor (whatever his/her field is) does not matter to me.
