Dated a 25yo who lived at home, wouldn't have a problem with it usually, but it was the way in which he did it - like a teenager, let mammy do all the laundry, cooking, cleaning, ironing his shirts etc, then when he started treating my house like that, he got the boot!!! Wouldn't have a problem if he was helping out at home, and independent otherwise though, and would not put me off in future, would just be on the lookout for some of the signs!!
Living independantly from an early age is an education in itself. The things that life teaches independant people are invaluable when knowing what you want in life.
People who are dependant or lead sheltered lives with family, often don't make great partners. They often end up in co-dependant relationships, have narrow views on life, and no experience or ambition.
Not saying this is true for everyone, but for the majority it is.
No woman wants a partner who is like a son, nor one who refers to his mother on everything.

Trueheart: No, it makes you a loving, caring person, and a great catch for some women who want a nurturing and warm relationship. As my Mom is now 81, and I am an only child, I may well be in your situation in the near future. However, for now,at age 62, I want a person who is unfettered <kids and aging parents>, so I can have a little fun before I kick the bucket. Although very admirable, you may risk having a smaller pool of women to date.
As to the OP's question, I just like to see someone who is well-kempt, and chemistry is definitely a factor at either stage, dating or marriage.
