tomcatwarne: Well I would suggest (philisophocolly) the only thing that has no beginning and no end is a circle and it's therefore infinite, so zero is the infinite number.
I like that, Zero can be infinite the way you phylosophicaly points it out but back to the OP there is not biggest number.
tomcatwarne: Hmm but are'nt all very large numbers concepts, they are certainly out of the realm of our understanding,
I agree they are conceptualy mind boggling but every number exists, somewhere and they never stop. That is why there is no such thing as a perfect circle, the numbers in the equation never stop.

Ladybee42: maybe the biggest number is a 9 as all numbers from then on are expressed using all the previous smaller ones 1,2,3...etcwhich would make this more of a riddle than an actual fact...

lifeisadream: I have not had any table wine today, this is me
Nice talking to you all.
I have to go, going to a concert and "dinner" after, then I will have my table wine.
Enjoy, but not table wine for me, Finnish vodka, sat night is time for a few, had wine at dinner earlier. and I don't think my conversation was unduly influenced by the social drinking

RDM59: Well, I was meaning 'mankind' being responsible. Yes I've heard something about that before, the Mayans and the introduction of the number zero.
no according to the scientist at this show i was attending he put this exact question to my students and came up with one of the choice answers i gave you.
you have good logic probably the only possible explanation from the rest of the pathetic ans i received but yes there is a word that would describe that or infinity and beyond!!!!
Well 'number' which it is intrepreted here is a word so my ans is correct which applies to this hence therefore it can be answered with another word - am i making sense!!!

If you press the quote button you will also incude the person's you want to answer aswell, like this ^^^ so we know who you are addressing ...

Only true for base 10 numbers! Hexidecimal would give a largest digit as F (decimal 15) and a base of n would give a largest digit of (n-1)!
Also if there's any Mathematics Phds out there, I suspect there's all sorts of theories involving non Euclidean geometry!
