tallman51: I gave up the drink about 15 years ago ! The first few weeks were the hardest because I was playing with a blues band in Limerick and they were all big drinkers. Afetr a week or so I started to enjoy the music more and have never looked back.
I did not havea problem but am glad I packed it in.
Barry's tea for me now and it is so nice to be able to go places and do things without needing a drink to find the courage to do so.
I am not against drinking but when people get messy and aggressive it's time to stop !!
pubs are full of people who are aggresive and messy on a sat nite

i cant understand why people who get aggressive or arguementative on drink do it ive known many people who are grand up till a certain point and then bam theres trouble its madness some will blame circumstances or that particular brand of alchohol but just wont look in the mirror
delamer: There's some cheap Stella at the moment in Tesco too...
I drank that before and I battered a road traffic sign at 4 in the morning, I woke up the next day at home my knuckles all dried bloody and had flashbacks of the sign to this day everytime I pass it I look at how messed up it is and remember that mad night They call it wife beater in England I think
blipper2000: i very rarely do stupid things on drink and certainly never get aggressive i never really drink too much except at weddings i ddi a stuopid thing at the last wedding i was at though it was funny i cant say what its too embarassing
You know you have a problem when you start doing stupid things or get aggressive when drunk and i was that soldier, not anymore but
blipper2000: everyone does it when theyre young but ya hit about 25 and it has to change
I totally agree with you Blipp !
At 27 I got my first job as a copilot with KLM and still played music in my spare time. Slowly but surely drink was loosing it's appeal to me. I don't play music anymore but am glad that I don't drink either.
I gave up playing because it was all centred around pubs and clubs etc.......... Most of my musician buddies are alchoholics and living in denial !!!

most musicians i know are heavy drinkers it goes with the scene we live in a drink culture for example im gonna go to the local tonight and have 2 maybe 3 beers only cause im bored,i dont really want to drink but i just wanna get out of the house in other countries people wouldnt automaticaly go to the pub for relaxation
delamer: Is it the percentage of alcohol that's to blame? I like it. I can't stand Fosters or Budweiser. Taste like piss to be honest...
On a side note - apparently Fosters is mixed not brewed.
I think so it nearly 5% strong and it goes down easy, I havent drank it since that night and never will nor will I ever drink jagermeister either I like Fosters, its kinda sweet and yeah cant stand bud, It is so successful because of a good marketing campaign, its piss
