ian I think Pol Pot was the one who created hell on earth...I was at the killing fields and saw all those skulls encased with glass to remember the innocent people who were killed due to his warped thinking...and I also visited the prison In Viet Nam...sad sight to see...but I agree some governments did nothing for the people there...but war is never about stopping human suffering...more about financial gains...
fly Speaking of food traditions...Sundays meant that my Dad would make thin pancakes (crepes) and fry bacon and make orange juice...and some hot coffee!!...the filling of the thin pancakes was lemon, sugar and butter...some like bacon in the pancake as well...best breakfast ever...the whole family enjoyed with day and had a hard time moving after!!
soc We change the ecosystem...we feel the wrath...any person poaching should be jailed indefinitely...the problem is the low value placed on animals...it may have a high price tag dead but alive...they are just objects...corruption is a problem within and certainly poverty is part of the problem...but who will step up and protect and change the current conditions?...
luke Too funny!!...the terminology/slang of your country!!...but I think everyone laughs at their own country's political BS...we all have something in common!!
ken Or should I say Dr. Who?...lol...very interesting regarding time travel and technology today...and the test to prove multi dimensions...will have to check out the links you provided...cheers!!
dream If your children know their genetic predisposition...they will be careful...then the cycle won't be repeated...or at least they will be wary of it...it happens in a lot of families...like you said some are functional...but others slide down that path...and it is hard to recover...glad you had grandparents...mine were too far away to have any relationship with...one being from Norway and the other visited yearly because they lived in eastern Canada...so I did miss out in some areas of family life...not to mention cousins and such...for you...
mimi I think you are better off without your dad or ex-husband...the misery it would have caused your mother or you...if you accepted this behaviour...
Saying that I did have a dad who was financially responsible and did not leave or had any vices that would have jeopardized the family unit...but most of my friends did not have a good father who provided...so this leaves me with the idea that women have to take care of themselves...not to rely on men for financial or emotional stability...fortunately when I graduated high school...girls were expected to continue their education...my parents pushed us to be independent...unlike some girls a few years older than myself...
Mimi...you are strong and a wonderful mother and it shows...you have the hardest job in the world!!...
simmo Hard choices...lol...but I thought 2 ply is a must...first ply will simply not do...and I like my milk poured first before the tea...and the cup warmed before...lol...as for the dressing part...socks first!!...glad you posted this good debate topic!!
sol There are not too many free sites that offer a mix of forums and blogging...I do like some of the people here I gotten to know since I have been here...
sol I think it depends...dating on this site would help if you had a picture posted...but if your not interested in dating and just here to blog and hang out...no picture needed?...
lind I think GMO's are a problem...not much nutrients in them in comparison to the old foods/grains...but certainly we do not work harder than our previous ancestors...we are more idle...this seems to be a problem...interesting now, we see Pepsi introducing a lower sugar beverage now...seems to me that government is taking an interest in helping society with their choices...I am mixed with this idea but do think the public has a voice in what they want...too bad the government will not understand the people's uncertainty about GMO's, the hormones and antibiotics used in raising cattle and chickens for example to name a few...but it seems that we are not as active...
ian Chances are you are going to age well...just look after yourself...and if you have the means...spend it on a retirement community...but I get it...no one wants to be a burden...and culture has a lot to do with it...East versus West...perhaps finding someone more youthful is the answer?...
crazy I think ken is right...in regards to nursing homes and the amount of money it takes to afford a decent one...the problem of budget comes to mind...limited food and staffing...makes it difficult to provide excellent care...over worked staff leads to apathy...not always but money is definitely a factor...
In a government elder care home...I have heard that it is not unusual that the elderly are turned and changed (diapers) once a shift...their shower once a week...can you imagine?...but if you can afford better care...you will probably work double shifts to accommodate the facility expenses and provide for your own family hence, no time to visit...
Perhaps if you live outside a place like Vancouver it would be possible but my city is very expensive...my parents live 500 miles away but fortunately they still have their health and require no help...I am glad that they still have their independence...
sol I do not care about what people think...I just do what I feel is right...this site for me is to exchange thoughts and e-mails are good if you don't want to comment or blog about it...
Murder Or Mercy?
hansThanx...what did you do?...tried a lot...many thanks!!
