Yeah, we exchanged numbers at the end of it all, but I can't see myself calling her. I'd feel like a glutton for punishment after yesterday.
Being friends with an ex is great under the right circumstances. In this case, however, I reckon there's a reason we've not heard from each other in a couple of years.
I'm pretty sure that they DID need feminism. Perhaps you've misunderstood the term.
If the feminist movement hadn't happened, the chances of a female businesswomen being successful would have been small enough as to be considered, basically, nil.
But don't let that stop you making those throwaway comments and putting the argument back a couple of decades.
I think there's a lot of truth in that first sentence of yours. The language we speak definitely affects how we communicate. I find myself coming out with all sorts of philosophical thoughts in Spanish. I think the language lends itself to it. I just use phrases that, when I translate them back into English, I couldn't imagine saying.
Here's a nice phrase from French which doesn't easily translate.
L’esprit de l’escalier!
I've heard it translated as 'staircase wit', but I don't think the English language does it justice.
It's the idea of thinking of a great response to another person's argument as you are walking away! We all know how that one feels, and now we can express it too!
Meeting Your Ex
Hi Abagail :)Yeah, we exchanged numbers at the end of it all, but I can't see myself calling her. I'd feel like a glutton for punishment after yesterday.
