I've always taken my grandchildren overnight. I love it and I think it's important that the days/nights be all about them. You know...what THEY want to do...what THEY want for dinner.....what THEY want to play. We always find something to get into and it's their special time. I have 7 grandchildren and we all have OUR stuff that we do together. They all love to "help" with things and , as you suggested, they LOVE to go for walks so, that's at the top of my list of things to do 
Glad to hear you're going to be spending time with your granddaughter....the time passes to SLOW before they get here and too FAST while they're with us. Enjoy your time

One of the worst things about sleeping alone....for me....is waking from a bad dream and not having someone there to say "It's OK...it's just a dream...come here"

Maybe so.....I've been divorced now for .....well a really long time... 
I was in an off-again-on again relationship for...well a long time, but I've been on my own for a lot longer. Although I WOULD like and DO miss the companionship that comes with a relationship, It's kind of hard for me to share my space....I'd like to think there's still time and that IF the right person would come along I would be more than happy to move my clothes over in the closet to make some room.....
The thing IS......I don't think that everybody else has the emotional consistency you refer to. I know I don't. Some days are good, some not so good. People only allow us to see what they want us to see. JMO
Yes, I'm happy today. Maybe not fully satisfied with EVERYTHING....but happy just the same
