have to live (for 6 months minimum) like the people they will be representing. I mean, how, otherwise, how could they understand what our struggles are? Let them understand that the tip they leave for a nice dinner, could be all some have to live on for a month. That some people can't afford to be sick. That living "paycheck to paycheck" is frustrating and challenging..... That a difficult decision is NOT whether to buy the $300.00 boots or the $1500.00 boots, but whether you can afford to buy boots at all....just sayin'...

So LISTEN UP DOG LOVERS.....
First, let me preface this by saying, that as humans, we can read labels and CHOOSE to consume food or drinks that have a "warning" label or contain questionable ingredients. Our pets can't do this and rely on us to give them safe food.
That being said.....I learned today that certain DOG FOODS contain "propylene glycol"...one of the ingredients in ANTI-FREEZE!! It's been linked to kidney and liver failure in dogs with extended use. Propylene glycol is used as aircraft de-icing fluid. It's also sold under the name of RV or marine antifreeze. It's able to lower the freezing point of water.
According to the FDA..Propylene glycol is an approved food additive for dog food under the category of animal feed and is generally recognized as safe for dogs.
Similarly, propylene glycol is an approved food additive for human food as well.
The exception is that it is prohibited for use in food for cats due to links to Heinz body anemia. (It reduces the red blood cell survival time, renders red blood cells more susceptible to oxidative damage, and has other adverse effects in cats consuming the substance at levels found in soft-moist food.)
ALSO, Propylene glycol is known to exert high levels of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) during degradation in surface waters. This process can adversely affect aquatic life by consuming oxygen needed by aquatic organisms for survival.
It's also contained in a lot of cleaners, creams, pharmaceuticals etc.
I just find it hard to believe that anything that is a main ingredient in anti-freeze and can deplete a water source of oxygenis ok to ingest......

Was there just as much badness in the world THEN? Maybe there was, but we didn't hear about as quickly...
I know, I like the convenience of the internet, and scanners, and email and digital cameras and cell phones.....but I remember my life without these things and it wasn't bad. My grandchildren kind of look at me with wonder....."You didn't have cell phones MeeMaw? How did you talk to anybody?"
Yes, we have plenty of conveniences now.....but is life better??

It's been really cold here and his feet get so cold he can barely make it to the door from the yard and he's too heavy for me to carry!!

Really upsets me to see people trying to do what's right....working hard, being fair, being kind, following the rules and helping people....

treating people badly, living their lives with rage and anger and an "it's all about me" attitude, being mean just to be mean and bending and stretching the system to their benefit with, what seems like, no repercussions ....
I know in my MIND life will balance this out....but in my HEART....I'd kind of like to give Karma a little bit of a nudge...
Do people understand what they're saying when they say..."You drive really well, for a woman"? Is it intentional or do they really NOT understand what they're saying/inferring?
You really have to wonder, if when someone says..."I didn't even recognize you, you look so good" do they MEAN exactly what they're saying but want to disguise it so you can't get mad? Do they say these things so, if confronted, they can just say, "Well, that's not what I meant. If you TOOK it that way then YOU'RE the one with the problem."
Is it an insult disguised as a compliment???
