Nessa, I think it's quite hard for those of us who don't suffer unduly with stress to get into their mindset, whilst your idea would work for us to the sufferer this would just mean more time worrying about their problem I fear.

Checkers, yes I'm sure it would, expanding that most things in their pure form are lethal, nicotine from cigarettes, alcohol from drinks etc & it fits well with the authors piece in that by diluting the problem, in this case forgetting about it, the risk is reduced.

I saw on the UK news this week that the met office is in trouble with the government for forecasting a dry summer last year, which is why they introduced emergency drought measures, I bet they're feeling some stress at the moment

Hi Tatami, although I don't have children of my own I do have a step son who is currently serving in the army, it's not what I would have liked for him but he's happy, here's hoping the world stays a trouble free place whilst your son serves in the army, for my step son I hope he doesn't have to do another tour in Afghanistan.

Although stress is rarely funny but my ex did have a problem that made me chuckle, each time two weeks before her sister came to stay she would develop an itchy rash on her leg, her sister is particularly house proud & the fear that she would find some dirt in the house would bring on this rash every time, as soon as no undue dirt was found the rash would disappear, until the next time

Elmo, I know what you mean, I've always been fortunate to see things that way but I know some who find the most odd situations stressful, the friend I mentioned in the blog for example got that way because of emails

every night when he got home from work there would be a 100 or so work related mails waiting & one day he just snapped.
