Other countries could learn from Swiss 12 years in Indonesia and I'll never get more than a 6 months Visa which I've to purchase abroad and extend every single month at the local immigration.

I don't feel long distance online relationships can work when young children are involved and I personal hadn't gotten involved in the first place.
My son never had any problem accepting a new partner but then he never had to give up his connection with the real father for it by moving away.
I wouldn't worry about custody battles, if the mother was is fit to be one no court in the world would allow the father to drag the child away from her.
I feel for you and still you really asked for drama

You can snuggle against your pillow and the window/wall The tiny plane pillow wont to the same great job In case you've no window seat forget your pillow cos you've no space/use for it.

I've been in long term relationships with partner who had to travel a lot business wise or had only their second home on the Island. Those LDR have worked great for me. So great and for so long that I can't even imagine how it could be to have a partner around me 12 months per year

I went once down the path of having an online LDR - it took me a half year to realize how crazy it was and since a reality check wasn't an option, or at least not in sight for another year, I went back to keeping it real - being single.

Can it work? Sure, as long you know the other person

Dogs get stolen here all the time. Some get stolen to be slaughtered and sold on the streets - knowing and unknowingly to lover of satay (meat on a stick)
A pure breed dog worth more than a local worker can make with years of hard work. They get stolen to be sold again or in the hope the owner will offer an reward for its return.

I'm not embarrassed to admit that I'm guilty of this and I learned my lesson to keep it real.
